If I could justifying wearing it more days in Houston (heat, plus the fact that I couldn't wear it to work), I'd fork out the $125 for a 5.11 denim jacket. Looks like a great cover garment, and it has all those pockets and nooks and crannies to keep stuff.

you can buy your shirts +1 size above yours. I wear Polo's, Hawiian and T's but I get them with a little extra room in them. I wear a full size S&W in an Aikins style OWB leather holster.
99.9% of people are so wrapped up in their own lives they don't and won't notice a bulge. I was over aware of my side arm when I first started carrying. Now there is not alot I won't wear as cover.

Practice in your home to find combinations that work for you.

They are not summer cover. But, I really like mine for winter wear. I like mine. It does have a place.

The vast majority of the time I carry OWB (~5:00 carry) and don’t really have any problems. I often carry one of several 45’s (1911’s officer and commander size), Glock’s (G19, 23, and 26), and sometimes a Para P12. I recently purchased a Springfield XD 45 Compact and plan to carry it OWB as well.
I have several IWB rigs for my 1911’s and G26 for when the situation requires a little deeper cover, but with my current lifestyle, I go IWB probably less then 10% of the time.
Like others have mentioned I wear a T-Shirt in the summer with a short sleeve button down shirt worn unbuttoned and un-tucked as a cover garment. I have never been accosted by LEO’s or civilians, and that’s what counts.
If I need to dress better, I take my Kimber Ultra Carry in an IWB rig, tuck in the shirt, and the whole thing effectively disappears. If I’m wearing a suit, it’s a 50/50 thing which way I go. If I plan to keep the jacket on, I go OWB. If there’s a chance I’ll take the jacket off, I go IWB.
My preference to OWB is based on speed of presentation and comfort. After decades of carrying OWB at 5:00, I’m very comfortable with it and presentation comes naturally, so I'm biased that direction.
When carrying IWB it’s generally also at 5:00. I sometimes carry appendix, but for me that’s not as comfortable and it precludes button down shirts left open, which for me is the fastest presentation. Also, since appendix typically requires a pull over garment, it may require you to implement a two handed draw, which could be deadly in a grappling situation. Cross draw has the same limitations for me as appendix.
I never got comfortable with small or the back (SOB) carry. During a grapple situation you could end up on your back which means you couldn’t get to your weapon for a contact shot.
An organization I was working for in the 70's was real enamored with shoulder holsters and for awhile I had to carry one, and I didn’t much care for it. It was horizontal carry and I never got good at mastering the thumb break. While we’re on the subject, I’ve never been very fond of thumb breaks on belt holsters either, but that’s just a personal preference. I have had to carry with thumb breaks since the agency required it…it just wasn’t my favorite.
I’ve never carried in an ankle holster, so I can’t speak to it. I just never got the urge, and at least for me, I thought it would be too slow. I tended to carry my back up gun (BUG) in my jacket pocket (short barreled wheel gun). That seemed faster to me, but that’s just personal preference. As a side note, I don't carry a BUG as a civilian. I guess I just don't feel threatened enough as a civilian...
Pick what your comfortable with, carry often, and practice, practice, and then practice some more.
Also, keep asking questions. I am continually amazed at the vast amount of info that’s available on this forum. Some of the folks here have a truly impressive knowledge base and are willing to share with the rest of us. Not a bad deal.
