What do they carry for a service weapon? Maybe a Glock?
Re: Dallas Co. Deputy Shoots Self
I'd bet on it

Re: Dallas Co. Deputy Shoots Self
I hope the deputy makes a full recovery from this negligent, not accidental, discharge. This is not a fun way to have the rule "keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you are ready to shoot" reinforced.

Re: Dallas Co. Deputy Shoots Self
Usually articles about incidents like this leave out the detail "the pistol discharged as his finger depressed the trigger". The point being that his finger was almost certainly on the trigger while hosltering.
Re: Dallas Co. Deputy Shoots Self
I'm betting the Glocker leg shooting gun (well known by a Ex-FBI Agent too).

I'm glad she will be okay, but that sure is a hard way to learn a lesson. One of the replies was supposedly from a DPD Cop that complained of a lack of a hammer to hold while reholstering. I wanted to reply that if one would keep their finger off the trigger there wouldn't be any need for a hammer to hold, but didn't feel like getting into it there.

I knew a San Diego County Sheriff's Deputy who, when jumping out of a pickup camper while drawing his gun, shot himself through the thigh.
He lived, but the damage quickly ended his law enforcement career.
bad, bad deal

I think he was talking about the FBI Agent I referenced.

Re: Dallas Co. Deputy Shoots Self
It really, REALLY annoys me that anytime there is a NEGLIGENT discharge, the first thing someone says is "musta been a Glock". Guess what, boys and girls? Any gun will go bang at the wrong time, and in the wrong place, if you don't follow the rules.pcgizzmo wrote:What do they carry for a service weapon? Maybe a Glock?
The gun is just the tool. The behavior is the problem.
Fingers don't belong on triggers unless sites are on target!

Re: Dallas Co. Deputy Shoots Self
...most "accidental" shootings with a handgun that I've ever known or read about involved a Glock, then a cocked 1911, then a cocked revolver...NEVER have I known personally or read a story where a firearm malfunctioned and went off and hurt someone...
