I've lost 15 - 20 lbs. over the last 6 - 9 months, so I have a little room to play with on my dress slacks. Otherwise, I don't know what I would do.gigag04 wrote:I like my suitwear to fit in a modern, tailored, fashion, so tucking IWB does not work for me either. I agree. I have a horsehide from Tommy Theis, which is basically like the above referenced IWB holsters but was a bit more cost effective for me. In addition to the belts mentioned in this thread, 5-11 also has some dressier looking gun belts that are quite sturdy and can easily support the weight.Middle Age Russ wrote:As already mentioned, a good tuckable IWB (Comp-Tac MTAC, Crossbreed Supertuck, Galco King Tuk and the like) which spreads the weight of the gun over a large area of the belt is just the ticket.

If they made me wear a coat to work, I would keep the coat on and carry OWB.

Re: Dress slacks and sport coat
Unfortunately, the coat occasionally comes off, for various reasons. Sometimes, at a moments notice. So OWB won't work for me.Ameer wrote:If they made me wear a coat to work, I would keep the coat on and carry OWB.
Re: Dress slacks and sport coat
All I can seem to find on their site is 1 1/2" belts. Have to have a max of 1 1/4" for the dress slacks.hpcatx wrote:Middle Age Russ wrote:... 5-11 also has some dressier looking gun belts that are quite sturdy and can easily support the weight.

You'd be surprised how little people pay attention. I carry with the Blackhawk more often and even though it sticks out a little more no one has said anything yet. The Minotaur does conceal better, but if the Blackhawk is more comfortable.Rocstar wrote:The MTAC Minotaur could be an option.C-dub wrote:I carry this way to church a lot now and some other times. Sometimes I use my MTAC Minotaur and sometimes I just go with the Blackhawk Serpa. I've been carrying a Glock 27 for years, but lately, since my wife got me a Glock 21SF for our anniversary, I've been carrying that around with a Blackhawk Serpa and no one seems the wiser.
I like the Blackhawk Serpa. But it is an OWB holster and won't work for my needs. Good for the range though.

I have often thought I would like to try ankle carry, but I worry about the pant leg riding up too much when I sit down.gigag04 wrote:I like my suitwear to fit in a modern, tailored, fashion, so tucking IWB does not work for me either. I opt for ankle, or thunder wear type concealment.

I can relate to that. I am right handed, so would want an ankle holster on my left leg, which isn't the problem. The problem is that, for as long as I can remember, when I cross my legs, it is the left one over my right and the pants leg slides way up.C-dub wrote:gigag04 wrote: I have often thought I would like to try ankle carry, but I worry about the pant leg riding up too much when I sit down.
Re: Dress slacks and sport coat
For what it's worth, I ordered a Silent Thunder IWB from Garrett Industries (http://garrettindustries.mybigcommerce.com/) located in Woodville, TX and should have it in a few weeks.
They were quick to respond to my email questions and even steered me to a less expensive model than the one I was originally looking at, tell me that they thought it would be a better fit for my described use.
Thanks again to all that answered my questions in this thread!

Re: Dress slacks and sport coat
I often wear a snap vest - without a jacket - and that allows me IWB coverage.
Look for a vest longer than your waistline.
I also will wear a sport coat/suit jacket over a vest, when I need a more formal appearance of a coat, and I rely on the vest to conceal should the need to remove the jacket comes up.
To use this combination as a regular, consistent style - consider increasing your jacket size one up, to accommodate both the vest and buttoning the jacket, unless the jacket will not need to be buttoned.

I regularly wear a light, cotton/velcro shoulder rig from Deep Conceal under my dress shirt (and over a t-shirt). Would rip buttons in an emergency, or leave several unbuttoned and covered by a tie. Anyway, the arrangement completely conceals the firearm under the shirt, and (depending on button management) can allow for discrete and easy access, whether sitting or standing.

Re: Dress slacks and sport coat
If the jacket comes off, get an IWB tuckable. I wear a sport coat as often as possible, I find it fashionably elegant, even with jeans. This allows for IWB or OWB. On a recent trip to Thailand, I had some dress shirts custom made with straight (not contoured) tails so I can wear the shirts untucked. This gives me more options and presents a somewhat edgy look with the sports coat, even for an OF like me.
