New CHL 100

Post by longtooth »

Is anyone using the new one yet?
I am thinking about jumping in my next class.
I will use exactly what is there & add "Legal Aspects"

This is a pain. Small class 1hr on range. Large class twice as long for twice as many shooters.

I have used the new one the last two classes. I have been teaching 2-4 classes a month the past couple years with a powerpoint presentation, so my drill is pretty much the same each time, barring any long winded , side tracking stories someone comes up with in the class. I normally give then 1-2 minutes or so to be polite and then say ..."that's good, now let's get back on track" and then dive right back in to where I was.

I figure I might as well get used to the new one, so it's not that big of a deal , at least not yet. :cheers2:

I am not going to use it until my first January class. I have the old one set up as a form so that all I have to do is type in name and DL number, and all else is prefilled. Of course, they still have to be signed. I have not had the time to do the same with the new form. Also, the fields are so small, it is going to be very difficult to work with.

I do know, for a fact, that at least one instructor has gotten a class disqualified because of not spending the required minimum amount of time teaching the required subjects, per the new CHL-100 form. I know this because we saw the letter sent from DPS to the student. They came to us for fingerprints and wanted to know what to do about the DPS letter. We told them they had to go back to their original instructor.

As far as I know, that is OK. This instructor was a little challenged on his math skills. I think he only showed 8 hours total.

Hmmm, 10.0000001 +/- 0.00000003

I too have an old version set up as a form that populates from my class roster. I'll hold off until mandated to change.
