I turned 17 in January 81 and went to MCRD San Diego on March 9th. I went to Guam in October and while at the Marine Corps Ball there our Sargent came up and said that the Sargent Major wanted to see me. I almost peed my pants! What did he want me for? Did I do something wrong? It turned out that I was the youngest Marine on the Island and I received the 3rd piece of cake, served to me by the Colonel! A few days later I was interviewed by the local paper and the next days headline read "Baby Grunt gets the third piece of Marine Corps Birthday Cake" Needless to say I was somewhat of a local celebrity for the next 13 months and was know as "Baby Grunt" by everyone on the Island. It was very cool!!!
Yes the Marines are a Department of the Navy.....The Mens Department....

A day late also - being out of town.

Happy Birthday to all my brothers! :patriot:

Nice thing is I got 3 text and 2 calls yesterday from others wishing me HB! The best one, though, was from my oldest daughter (16) who heard on the news and sent me a text before she left for school!
