I didn't think he'd actually get in trouble unless he actually refused to teach a Muslim, but you can bet there are Muslims who will try and attend his class and DPS will be watching him like a hawk. The moment he refuses to teach somebody, they'll be all over him in nothing flat.
That having been said, I respect his right to free speech, but he sure did make a donkey of himself and this is bad for the CHL program.
Everybody has a right to carry for self-defense and I'll teach anybody about defending themselves who I don't think will be a danger to others, black, white, yellow, purple, gay, straight, bi, trans....whoever.
We can't assume that every gun owner is going to be the stereotypical gun owner, unless we want that to be true. I've been instructing lots of democrats, minorities and a few homosexuals in my recent classes. They're realizing that guns aren't only for bigoted buffoons and the more of them who are carrying, the less likely it is in the future that bad gun laws will pass. The coalitions that have historically supported gun control get weaker when people from more walks of life become proud gun owners.
Personally, I'm glad DPS took the initiative to investigate his sorry rear and that they did it publicly. The public needs to know that all CHL instructors aren't like this guy so people who are a little different from us aren't afraid to get their CHL.
