new guy question

Post by koconcept »

I was looking at the dps regulations and was curious as to one thing I saw. First I would like to say this is a great forum with lots of information here. What I saw was on the elgibilty requirement was if a person had defaulted on a loan they are dq for chl. I don't recall myself if I ever defaulted on a loan but I did put a deferment on my student loan while unemployed and am working hard to become debt free. Does a deferment constitute a default in the eyes of the state. Appreciate your help.

...by definition, a deferrment is a business agreement made between you and your creditors, accepted by both, to allow you time to repay it...to default means you just ignored it and walked away...not acting responsibly...I would answer that, no, I was not in default...that's true...
...now help me...where did you read that about delinquent school loans...I'm reading Gov'tCode 411.172 from the Concealed Carry Handbook and don't find it...unless it's covered under (11) and that would only affect you if you borrowed from a Texas "...agency or subdivision of the state...".........what am I missing????

School loans are no longer an issue;that requirement was repealed in 2009. What you describe was not a "final determination" of delinquency anyway.
