Wierd Sign
I took a picture of this sign on a medical building with my cell phone camera
while taking an elderly relative in for day surgery. It is obviously not
compliant. I left my gun in my truck because I did not want to risk
any issues with the building security. Just want to see what other forum
members think of it. Click on picture to enlarge

Holds no weight as that is clearly not in compliance with the law!tommyg wrote:I took a picture of this sign on a medical building with my cell phone camera

Re: Wierd Sign
Seems to be effective notice for those carrying rifles and shotguns.

Re: Wierd Sign
Too bad 'Solicitors' don't pay as much attention to the signs as we do.

Re: Wierd Sign
That sign maybe has the force of law for someone who is carrying without the defense to prosecution of a CHL. It has no meaning whatsoever to a CHL holder. Personally, I would have carried into the building for the following reasons: 1) how is Security going to find out when "concealed" means "concealed;" and 2) if Security does find out, the only thing they can do is give you effective notice, and then your proper response would be to go secure your weapon in the car and come back in. They can't arrest you just because they find out about it, so long as you follow the law and leave. What would they charge you with? No law has been broken. Now, if you refuse to leave once you have received effective notice, you're on your own.
I sometimes wonder when I see signs like that if, secretly, the institution's management really don't care if CHL's carry into their facility or not. Large institutions like hospitals usually have pretty good legal departments, and being incorporated entities, they are pretty tied into whatever their insurance carriers tell them they must do to keep rates down. So if a hospital or some other large medical facility doesn't have a compliant 30.06 sign—or even the no-longer relevant versions of it—my guess is that they just don't care.
One thing I do know............it's not my job to educate them if their signage is irrelevant.

Exactly. And why would we want to?The Annoyed Man wrote: One thing I do know............it's not my job to educate them if their signage is irrelevant.
That is basically the same sign on the professional building where my doctor is located. It is not attached to a hospital. I carry there.

...if there were a revolving red light atop of every business where the manager loves guns and carries and hunts and yet has to have some kind of sign, proper or not, because of a decision in the legal department in home office 5 states away...sure would be pretty at night, wouldn't it...
Re: Wierd Sign
I would be in serious trouble trying to go into that facility - even if buck naked. My mind is a weapon, one which I use against unarmed people on a daily basis.

Re: Wierd Sign
My thought exactly. What about the various knives put to use by the doctors? Do the OR nurses "carry" those "weapons" into the OR?TxFig wrote:I would be in serious trouble trying to go into that facility - even if buck naked. A Solicitor in the UK is a type of lawyer, ... so ... maybe they fear a medical malpractice guy? Barristers are welcome there I suppose?
