I have only two things to say, sort of, on that subject:

"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles." —Jeff Cooper

And this gem from an older (and somewhat cheesy action movie):

Character 1: "Water's wet, the sky is blue...and old Satan Claws, Jimmy, he's out there, and he's just getting stronger."
Character 2: "So what do we do about that?"
Character 1: "Be prepared, son, that's my motto. Be prepared."

Why go into a long rant when its been said before, and put so well?

Very interesting article. I doubt the OWS will sustain through the winter, but it will be interesting to see what happens as the election gets closer. I especially liked this quote,
"Not mentioned, yet, is the potential for what could take place the night of and day after the next presidential election. Especially if Obama loses. Especially if he loses like Al Gore lost in 2000."

That is a scenario I've pondered for 3 years now. We've seen what happens in some cities when their team wins a sports championship, what about a loss??

If obama gets a second term he might get to place 1 to 3 Supreme Court Judges which could lead to taking away an individuals right to bear arms

I have that exact nightmare more often than I want. While I fear the loss of our 2nd amendment rights in a lopsided Liberal court, there are 100 other subjects that such a court could take up.

We can be successful through a single election at getting rid of travesties like Obamacare. A series of anti-Constitutional decisions by SCOTUS could lead to effects which would last a century if they did not result in the elimination of our current form of government, a result that would please OWS no end.

Well, SCOTUS is fixing to tackle the healthcare bill right in the middle of the election season. It could get interesting. At issue is the individual mandate. Lawyers challenging the law concede that Congress has the authority to control what happens when a consumer enters the commerce stream, but they argue that Congress does not have the authority to force a citizen into the commerce stream as a consumer.

If SCOTUS decides that the individual mandate is unconstitutional, then it will finally put a limit on how far Congress can go to force a citizen to do something they don't want to do. If SCOTUS rules that the individual mandate is constitutional, then Congress can tell you to do anything or you will be in violation of the law, and your life is no longer your own.

Just imagine what a Congress hostile to gun rights could do with that............

This is why I will vote for any Republican, even one who is not a champion of the 2nd Amendment, over any possible write in or third party candidate. Voters are certainly entitled to their consciences. But this particular election is absolutely pivotal. We are at a turning point, right here, and right now. This election will determine if we become European, or remain uniquely American. The election is going to be close, between Obama and whoever the republican candidate turns out to be. If you are not going to vote for Obama, then you almost have a duty to hold your nose and vote for the republican candidate, no matter whether or not that candidate is ideologically pure enough to meet your personal standards. If you vote for a third party candidate in this election, you will be helping to throw the election to Obama. If you're OK with that, then do not complain when Obama places those radical leftists on the SCOTUS, and ALL of your precious rights go down the drain.

After election day, if Obama has won, every time I hear someone who claims to be a conservative complain, I'm going to ask, "how did you vote?" Voting third party may assuage your conscience, but you will bear part of the responsibility for his reelection. We cannot afford to splinter off conservatives into a third party. We just can't. Things are too close for that. Whether or not you want to admit it, each and every vote casts ripples which affect the overall picture. There is no third party candidate who has a snowball's chance of beating Obama, or a snowball's chance of beating any republican candidate for that matter. ONLY the republican candidate has that chance to beat Obama. If Obama wins, you can kiss America goodbye. I truly believe that this election cycle finds us at the brink of a national apocalypse. Obama truly is the worst president ever, and that is because—believe it or not—he has exercised what he sees as policy moderation. It can and will get worse if he wins reelection. He has held back the worst of what he has planned because he needs a second term in order to have the time to complete the transformation he promised/threatened (depending on your outlook). Once he has gained a second term, he no longer needs to worry about reelection, and he will pull out all the stops.

Vote your conscience in the primaries. Vote "R" in the general election if you don't want European Socialism, or worse, for America.
