Oh goodie! Does this mean I can carry my switchblade and swordcane now? What about into places where firearms are prohibited?

BTW, do you visit that buffet often? Is it any good?

Switch blades are prohibited, so no they aren't exempt with a CHL and a handgun of the licensed type.

Sword cane, I honestly don't have a clue.

Slow night at the buffet, I like it but tonight the food wasn't very fresh. It's the first time I went on a Monday though.

I walked in walmart for over an hour reading magazines, even helped a guy on the phone trying to get his wife back on track somewhere in Oklahoma with a map, ate dinner for 45 ish min in a buffet getting up and down, got bored and did three laps around the inside of target and I didn't notice anything, not a thing, different about my night other than I was taking random pictures.

I'm confused... how do you legally carry something that's illegal to carry?
I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

Same way folks shoot and own illegal machine guns in Texas. There are exemptions. See above for the law quoted in the OP.

Isn't that the movie about the high school girl who "dates" and eventually marries someone old enough to be her grandfather?

What exactly is this part qualifying?

"to carry a concealed handgun of the same category as the handgun the person is carrying;"

That's the only part that concerns me about a clear exemption. Is it targeting only the handgun part?

Perhaps this will get a negative response, but that section you copied in the OP reads that the exception lies in having the correct license for the weapon being carried. The only license you will get is a SA or NSA license so you can carry a Semi or Wheel (or both, or 5 of each). This exempts you from the restriction on handguns, not any illegal weapon. The H in CHL stands for Handgun.

Not trying to be rude and correct me if I'm wrong... (with further facts preferably to back it up  )

And the C stands for Concealed. I'm clearly exempt though per state law. You may check, as I have, with a lawyer if you wish.

Reading again I see that it can be interpenetrated to say that if you have a licensed gun on your and have your license on you, you can have a knife on you as well. It doesn't say "has the capacity to legally carry" it says "is carrying". So I suppose it is arguable that if you have a concealed handgun on you and a CHL you are good to go to throw on that big ol knife. That is less than clear in its intentions, and could use a revision to clearly define its purpose.

Anywho, aforementioned claim of illegality retracted due to lake of evidence. I wouldn't be surprised if a cop feels that this statute doesn't provide exemption however.
