TX: US Police and Zetas accidently ambush each other?

Post by ELB »

If I understand this story correctly:

The police set a trap by following a truck carrying a stash of marijuana (300lbs). The truck driver was a civilian police informant who was in on the deal. The plan was to bust whoever was at the drop-off point.

On its way through Houston Monday (21 Nov 11), three SUVs cut off the truck and opened fire on it, apparently to hijack the mj. The police then intervened and a firefight broke out. When the fight was over, four attackers, thought to be Mexican nationals and members of the Zetas, were in custody, a police officer was wounded in the knee, and the truck driver was dead.

Attempted capital murder of a LEO is a death penalty offense, isn't it? Queue the Mexican gov to protest their possible execution in 3...2...1...
I'll quit carrying a gun when they make murder and armed robbery illegal

I am disappointed that they weren't all shot to death while resisting arrest.

With guns Zetas got from the "flood of arms entering Mexico", but secretly supplied with Eric Holder's consent? :waiting:

and once again we have learned nothing from the prohibition era.

Just like gun laws...the legality or illegality of drugs has little to do with who chooses to use them.

I call bull on the whole story. The location mentioned in the story is in a Gun Free School Zone so there is no way that it could have happened. ;-)

The border is secure....

Cartel violence will never spill over into Texas...

It's not secure. The violence is here. Plan accordingly.

We did. That's why we have CHL. If necessary, we can defend ourselves when we leave the house. Thank goodness some folks work on our behalf at the legislature each session. :txflag:

A little more info. Specific location, for example. A second deputy was injured when she collided with a school bus on the way to the battle.

This would never happen in El Paso County. Cops here know to stay away from SUVs with blacked out windows!

I guess it really was just a matter of time until it got to Houston...
