I just recently completed my CHL class, applied online at txdps, and was attempting to register for finger printing but I ran into some issues.
I've already tried to search this through the checklist forums, the closest answer I came up with was that it takes 48 hours to fully show up in the system after registering.
When I had initially attempted to register a date for L1 fingerprinting, I tried to do so before I sent in my CHL application and I repeatedly kept getting errors that said that my TDL was incorrect or DOB was not compatible.
After a few more failed attempts ( I tried using the number 20XXXXXX, next to DL/ then tried to use the DD 20 digit number at the bottom ), I then applied online through TXDPS and paid my dues (man that 5 year work history was killer) and was then given a link to register for L1. Clicked that and it allowed me to register, but seeing at that point in time, the earliest day available was Tues, I tried to go back into the options to attempt to get an earlier date. Instead of finding anything useful, I was somehow redirected to the same issue I had earlier that didn't allow me to register for my L1 fingerprinting date.
I have used L1 fingerprinting before for my EMS certification requirements a year or so ago and I don't remember running into any issues with my TDL in combination with my DOB.
Is waiting for the TXDPS system to update my application the best thing to do? I am planning on calling L1 fingerprinting tomorrow in hopes of resolving this issue.
Any advice is appreciated! I apologize in advice for my long post.
L1 fingerprinting required for CHL application

Re: L1 fingerprinting required for CHL application
If you go to the L1 site directly from the link after completing your CHL application, you can register for prints. If you leave that link, or back out of it for any reason, you have to wait for DPS to accept your application before you can register. That will be about 48 hours, maybe longer, since we are now into the weekend.
I agree, the system is screwy. We deal with this every day. Also, L1 Customer Service does not work on the weekends, so you will not be able to reach them until Monday. By that time, you might be able to get back in the system and register normally. And then, it will be Tuesday before you can get an appointment, because they don't take same day appointments.

Re: L1 fingerprinting required for CHL application
Thanks so much, I was afraid of that, but I'm glad you clarified that.
*EDIT - I just logged into the website today, successfully using the same 8 digit number on the DL portion of my driver license and I was able to set up an appointment for Monday. I guess waiting a bit longer was well worth it, I get to get it down and will ship out the papers on Monday versus Wednesday.
