In my OPINION, if the parking lot is not posted with a compliant 30.06 sign, then it is ok to store a legal firearm in your vehicle.

Thanks! I know that in the dps website it says its also illegal to carry in schools but it is not illegal to leave it in your vehicle I just couldn't find anything pertaining horse tracks.

...below in (c) (1), it tells you that , for this section, "...'premises' has the meaning assigned in 46.035"...

...go to 46.035 and look at (f)(3)...and it is specific...once you look it up and read it...it's yours...learn to back up all our answers in the written law and you'll be stronger and able to help others...and you'll never be before a judge saying "But someone told me..."...

Hey speedsix, what if the horse track is not a licensed horse track but a private training center or a "bush track"? These are privately owned horse tracks used for training, conditioning, and schooling. There is no pari-mutuel and such, the center is strictly for training. Any gambling is prohibited but I am sure people still do it out of sight. Would this "training center" fall under "horse track"? Thus making carrying concealed illegal?

I'll answer that. Section 46.01 of the Texas Penal Code defines racetrack as:
...(15) “Racetrack” means a facility licensed under the Texas Racing Act for the conduct of pari-mutuel wagering on greyhound racing or horse racing.

So, unless it is a LICENSED for pari-mutuel wagering, then no it would not be off limits per that part of the statute. A 30.06 or other proper notice WOULD prohibit you though.

And before anyone goes there, it would NOT be a school for training horses unless it was accredited by the Texas Education Association as a school.
