The root of the issue is Texas will not recognize an Ohio license. Ohio must have reciprocity agreements in place to be able to recognize another state. Thus they are at an impass.
Perhaps due to Texas allowing 18 year old veterans to CC? That's the sticking point for Washington too.

Scnapps is for sissies, but it sounds so much more funny. Scotch, particularly of the single malt variety (I like the peaty lowland single malts myself), is for much more serious contemplation. I was trying to lighten the mood.
Scotch...yum! I prefer the Islay variety...Laphroaig, Oban, Lagavulan, etc.... :biggrinjester:

No, you are reversing the direction of the problem. It is not Ohio having problems with the Texas license, Texas will not recognize an Ohio license. Ohio does not do an FBI criminal background check -- only an Ohio background check -- for long term Ohio residents and thus Texas will not recognize the Ohio license.

Since the Ohio reciprocity statute specifies that it requires a reciprocity agreement between the states, the fact that Texas is unwilling to enter into the agreement stops the reciprocity process in its tracks.

Ah, thank you for the correction. That probably explains why Ohio doesn't have an "ATF-qualified alternate permit" and thus requires background checks for all modern firearm purchases.

I've got a bottle of Lagavulin under my bar right now. That's my favorite.

Here's a can of worms being opened: we allow 18 year olds to vote, and not to drink, and we allow them to fight in the military and to get a CHL. How about moving all those ages to 21? As long as it's a volunteer military, we can set the age wherever we need it. I can see the need for age 18 for a time when the draft is needed, as that presumes a need for manpower not met by volunteers. I never quite got the need for lowering the voting age to 18. Let voting, military service, carrying concealed with a permit, drinking and marrying all get moved up in age. Or at least make it uniform at whatever age.

What time should I be over....and do you like cigars? Tuesday is my cigar night, having a cigar or four at Tap In later tonight, they have Laphroaig (but no Lagavulin that I'm aware of).

Oh, and to keep it on topic - I agree with keeping everything at one age - ie - either all 18 or all 21. :tiphat:
