Am i disqualified?
Hello all, first post. Im looking to get some solid information on if i am eligble to obtain my chl. If i owe state taxes in another state other than Texas am i still ok? my other question is i was arrested a few years ago gor asslt, mistaken identity but none the less it shows up,it was dismissed, and i carry a paper from the d.a. stating i am not the same person that did the crime. we both have the same name but thats about it.Am i still ok? Thanks for any info... Jason
Re: Am i disqualified?
...Texas is only interested in do you owe TEXAS money...
...as long as you can prove it wasn't you in the assault case...it may slow your app down a bit but won't disqualify you...

Re: Am i disqualified?
...if it were mine, I'd list the arrest with a note to see the attached document, attach a notarized COPY of the document, and include the phone numbers/address of the DA's office or clerk of court...wherever the state will have to call to verify it...
...you may find out that the arrest doesn't show on your records, as they pull them up...but I wouldn't count on it...

Re: Am i disqualified?
...if, either from the State, or your local instructor, you can lay your hands on a LS-16 handbook, you'll have a solid start toward what we're expected to know...I'd read it several times before class...every "and", "if", and "or" has meaning...it's not hard, just takes working through like diagramming a sentence...state # are 800-224-5744 or 512-424-7293,4
Re: Am i disqualified?
It isn't hard to find it online: but for some reason they changed it from LS-16 to CHL-16speedsix wrote:...if, either from the State, or your local instructor, you can lay your hands on a LS-16 handbook, you'll have a solid start toward what we're expected to know...I'd read it several times before class...every "and", "if", and "or" has meaning...it's not hard, just takes working through like diagramming a sentence...state # are 800-224-5744 or 512-424-7293,4

or

A work in progress is available in a wiki format as:

The pdf files are obsolete until DPS gives us a new update . The Wiki has the new Boating laws, but doesn't have the new priviledged class additions added yet.-

Re: Am i disqualified?
...anyone know if there's a newer paper version than Oct 2009??? thanks for that modern link...
Re: Am i disqualified?
The CHL-16 links I posted are dated Nov 2010. I don't know if there were many changes or corrections between oct 2009, an and Nov. 2010. They new one that they haven't released yet has the latest legislative changes. If you order now you will most likely get the Nov. 2010 Edition.
