What happens when there are bumps in the road?

Apparently, not to much...

I took my classes and completed my application in October 2006. Sometime during the week of 11/11, I mailed what I thought was my completed application packet. Let's say it was a Wednesday. That evening, I noticed I left out my TR-100. Panicked, I accessed the DPS website and sent an e-mail.

The next morning I got a reply that it would be OK if I mailed my form in separately and that it would be matched up. I had asked if I should wait or mail it now b/c I didn't want to delay my processing. So with this answer, I sent another certified envelope to the Department.

The last week of December, I got a letter from the Department. Basically stating that they had recieved my application packet but couldn't process it b/c of the missing TR-100. That following week, I faxed a reply back to the Department as to what had transpired and included copies of other documentation. It was a very polite and professional letter I sent back and I acknowledged my error would probably cause delays.

So now fast forward to the first or second week of Janurary. I recieved another letter that my application was recieved and my PIN number to check the status. The letter was dated the last business day of December so I figured I wouldn't hear anything until sometime in March.

Went to the mailbox this past weekend and there was a stark envelope sitting there from the Department. No congratulations, no Dear Mr. So and So, just my happy face on a license. I would say that from process to finish, we're probably talking a little over 35 days. Less if you're only counting business days!!!

Wow! You must have found a tear in the fabric of time. Or at the very least, some loophole in the process.

Congratulations! Sounds like the way you handled the situation may have been the key to your success. As I quickly approach the 60 day mark I eagerly await the day the I see my smiling face in the envelope. Be safe.

Maybe we should start telling everyone to send the TR-100 separately. Apparently, it speeds the process!

I wonder if that had anything to do with it. I was expecting some sort of delay because I had to white out some of my residency dates to make sure they match...living here while preparing to move and send mail there type of situations. Outside of some traffic tickets which I didn't bother to advise them off, everything should have been clean.

But I think the courteous e-mails and fax helped. My CHL instructor said they were short staffed and expect it to take the full 60 days. With my original delay, plus the holidays, I wasn't expecting to hear anything until March at the earliest.

What was that from the Coca-Cola commercial...show a little love and it all comes back to you. Maybe? Now if I can just find some holster love.

6ft, 250lbs, fairly solid minus an occasional bulge due to over indulgence of gin.

But that goes away with some walking and extra water.

I think I'm going to go with a Galco belt and holster and/or a shoulder holster. My main issue is that I'm flat in the backside. Even the weight of a cellphone in my pockets can present a challenge.

You just described me. 6ft, 250lbs, solid, with no backside to speak of. I've been looking at holsters for the last few months and I'm really sold on the C.T.A.C. from Comp-Tac. My buddy has one and it is just nicely made.
