RENEWAL QUESTION

Post by thebigapp »

I have had someone tell me that when you renew the third time, it is the last time you need to renew and your CHL then becomes a lifetime CHL. This I find a little hard to believe and would like some confirmation. I have not taken the opportunity to look this information up on my own, but have browsed this forum looking for confirmation. If any of you have any information on this, please respond.

Thank you!

...not true in Texas, but the requirements lessen a bit...GC411.185 (a)(1)(B)

http://www.texaschl.us/faq.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; question #3, answered below...
...I believe this is an instructor's website and not the State website...

...now I have a question of an instructor...this site says no range required 3rd renewal;
GC411.185(a)(1)(B) says"...and (2) submit to the department (B)evidence of handgun proficiency, in the form and manner required by the department;"...where can I find any changes in that "form and manner" not in the online CHL16??? has the range requirement also changed to every 10 years, or just the taking of the course?
