New bike

Post by gigag04 »

Picked up a 2001 FZ1 last night. Spent most of today riding it with on of my buddies on the motors unit, just getting a feel for the liter bike. The previous own dropped it so I got a good price on it, but I've got some work to do. It's mechanically sound, but the plastic looks shoddy and the tank is dented. Another one of my buddies on motors does body work on bikes and we're going to pull the dent here in a week or so.

I'm sure this thread will be labeled worthless without pics, but I'm getting ready for work. I should have some time tomorrow to snap a couple.

Forum ride?

Careful with that dent. If it's not too bad leaving it might not be a bad option. Gas tanks are expensive.

A forum ride would be fun. If I still have my bike when it happens I'll try and be there.

No wheelie's, please. Keep both wheels on the ground if at all possible. That's just crazy talk. ;-)

Those are nice bikes, I'm a fan of the naked streetfighter bikes. Never ridden an FZ1 but the specs look good on it. I'd say "leave the dent" and cover it with a bullet hole sticker.... :biggrinjester:

Congrats on the new ride. I actually considered getting an FZ-1 at one point. Imo, it is a good compromise between practical and performance oriented but I ended going the fully faired route.

I'm going add fairings and luggage to this one. It will be like a mini FJ

Congrats! I have always thought the FZ-1 was a lot of bike for the money. Have fun and stay safe!
