Big Tex Toy run

Anybody else here do the run yesterday? From Dallas or from Ft Worth?

I find it strange that with about 20,000+/- bikes attending (maybe more) there was 0
news coverage last night. A good cause and ALL monies go directly to MHMR and
Metro Services and ALL toys are distributed to kids that really need them.

There are lots of benefit runs for lots of reasons. I do this one and the runs that benefit
Scottish Rite. Seeing kids that have been abused, are sick, or hurting, tears me up. This is
the least I can do, and I know the money goes to help the kids....not line the pockets of
the organizers. It also reminds me how wonderfully God has blessed me and my family.

...you guys do a lot of good with that...thanks!!! the Midlothian Run leaves out of the restaurant we hang at and runs to the hospital in Corsicana...rain or shine...got a lot of respect for the dedication and effort you all put forth....bikers rule!!!

The Scottish Rite Hospital or Childrens Hospital can always use toys

This was actually my 2nd toy run this season.The first was an Angel Tree run on the 10th that our church does. We get names (50 this year) from the Prison Angel Tree. These names are sent in by the prisoners for their children. The families of our church adopt one child and get them 2 gifts, 1 toy and 1 clothing., wrap them and put them togeather with a name tag that says its from the parent that is incarcerated. We then deliver them to the childrens homes. We had about 30 motorcycles going this year from our church to deliver.

We also vote on which of the families we visited was in the most need and totally adopt that family with gifte for the caregivers and any other children that may live there and also supply them with all of the fixxins for a complete Christmas dinner.

Doing this makes you feel totally blessed. But you do get some looks at some of the neighborhoods with a group of bikers in full leathers pulling through. At one house, even though the caregivers knew we were comming, they were still a little afraid to open the door until we told them who we were.

Wow. I guess I totally missed it (the coverage). It's good publicity for the run/benefit.

To Rex B : If you've never visited Scottish Rite, or known a child that's been treated there;
I promise it would be worth your time and effort to check them out. It's not like
any other childrens medical facility. It's super clean, the staff is excellent with
fantastic attitude. The staff WANTS to be there. Great care and top notch physicians.
Your toys would be very much appreciated.
