Regulate bamboo poles - home invasion

two masked men entered his home on Middle Street just after 8 a.m. and assaulted him while he was still in bed. The victim told police the suspects used a bamboo pole to choke him and stole his wallet, containing $400, before fleeing the residence.

Someone .... quick .... pass a law ..... ban bamboo ..... or at least put serial numbers and require registration ...

If we had less bamboo, or it was harder to buy ...crimes like this could be prevented.
One "bamboo choking" is too many.
Write your Congressman ......Ban Bamboo now ...

It's the evil Bamboo's fault.

The only legitimate use for bamboo is fishing poles, so they should be regulated and a fishing license required to buy bamboo ... after a background check of course, no prior fishing violations, delinquent school loans etc.

Seriously, the number of "BAMBOO DEATHS" is not to be laughed at .. we need to regulate this dangerous weapon
I understand it is being smuggled in "under the radar" by a "LOOPHOLE" where people are buying it disguised as flooring ...

Right now, you can go to any Individual and buy his previously owned bamboo .... without so much as a background check ...

knives, bats, pipe, rebar, table legs, vehicles, drano, bleach, water hoses, wrenches, hammers, shovels, pick handles, screwdrivers, frying pans, keys, 2x4, rocks, softballs...

You name it, it has been used to commit murder.

I think I get where your going with this, we should regulate anything made out of wood or other hard materials

That's not a complete solution because it would leave rope, pillows, and water.

Since most murders a caused by other people, maybe we should just outlaw people. :biggrinjester: :biggrinjester:
No State shall convert a liberty into a privilege, license it, and charge a fee therefor. -- Murdock v. Pennsylvania
If the State converts a right into a privilege, the citizen can ignore the license and fee and engage in the right with impunity. -- Shuttleworth v. City of Birmingham

Plus, you know, my body is a weapon...

I worked for a reform school in another state for 5 years.
I learned real quick that just about anything can be used
as or turned into a weapon.

Another point I would like to make
a home made weapon is as deadly as a gun However some
people will not precieve it as deadly making an attacker more
apt to use it in a leathal manner

...it'd be beneficial if someone with a corrections or Company-type background would teach, write, or hold classes to show the average man, woman, and child a few things like that...what to use and how to use it well...we're not as helpless as we've been led to think we are...and a lot of those things of which you speak are so simple... :thumbs2:

All of these things you all have mentioned are just tools. The mind is the weapon. Some everyday items that we can employ as defensive tools are keys, pens, umbrellas, tightly rolled newspaper, the list is endless only limited by the imagination of the person.

...that was my point...the average person doesn't have much imagination in that area...I think classes or videos teaching all those examples and the ideas tommyg posted would be a good thing...and sell well...

But I think the biggest barrier is the average person doesn't know what they don't know and therefore they are not going to spend time and money to fix the gaps in their knowledge. Look how many (few) average people bother to even get a CHL.
