Sorry to be such a worry wart, but...I hand-delivered my app to DPS a few days ago and like a complete idiot, did not get a receipt. Then today my local gun store guy tells me two things that gets my panties in a wad: 1. it's definitely taking 90 or so days to get the license. 2. He's "heard horror stories of DPS losing apps."
Any input!!??
Okay, somebody please tell me it's going to be fine!

Best info on turnaround that I've seen seems to be between 60 and 70 days.
Personally, I haven't heard any horror stories about LOST apps, just some that were seriously delayed. I suppose it's possible that they will lose it, but try to relax and practice good carry habits at home.
You will likely not hear anything from them for about 5 or 6 weeks after DPS received the paperwork (at which point you should get your PIN if you didn't apply online initially).
I suppose that if you're really feeling panicky, you could call them and VERY politely (politeness goes a LONG way here) ask if you can get your PIN or if they can give you some indication that they have the packet. I don't think they'll be able or willing to tell you anything until it's in the system though.
