BBB and the Brady Center

Post by VoiceofReason »

I was looking to see what current lies the Brady center was telling and found something interesting.

It seems the Better Business Bureau does not rate them very highly as a charity.

http://www.bbb.org/charity-reviews/nati ... #taxStatus" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

"BBB Wise Giving Alliance Comments"

"Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence (Brady Center) does not meet the following 6 Standards for Charity Accountability." (one of which is)

"Brady Center does not meet this Standard because the organization's website, http://www.bradycenter.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, does not include all of the recommended information for those charity websites that solicit for donations. Specifically, it does not include: Electronic access to the organization’s most recent IRS Form 990" "rlol" "rlol"
God Bless America, and please hurry.
When I was young I knew all the answers. When I got older I started to realize I just hadn’t quite understood the questions.-Me

That alone is worth the $530 I pay each year to the BBB of Fort Worth. Love it!

I'm confused about one thing though..... in what way is a political action committee a "charity?" Do they shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, clothe the needy, heal the sick?

What the Brady Center (or the RNC, DNC, or any other political organization) does is NOT charity, and it does a disservice to the word "charity" when they try to pass themselves off as such.

Well, of course I always try to "do right" anyway, because I have to answer to a higher authority than puny man. But for me, my BBB membership is just part of my marketing program. I've actually gotten work that I would not have otherwise gotten specifically because of my membership and rating (I have an "A" rating and 0 complaints of any kind against me), and the biggest contract I've ever landed is one of those jobs. The membership has more than paid for itself.

.....and Brady Foundation is still NOT a charity. :mrgreen:

No wonder he's so rabid - he doesn't want to lose his seat on the gravy train.
That's actually quite low when compared to other charities' CEOs. If I recall, the MS Society pays theirs more than half a million. Sure, you can say they do something productive, but I would even tend to disagree with that, as they only give 30 cents on the dollar to the cure. Just some perspective.
The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere. -Thomas Jefferson
