TN tourist with CCW arrested at 9/11 memorial

Post by Skydivesnake »

Tennessee tourist carrying her CCW in NYC, sees a 'no guns' signs and so attempts to check firearm with cop.

Beyond the obvious sentiments of 'check the CCW laws of your destination' and 'shut up and carry on' etc, do you guys think this could be a pivotal testcase if NYC tries to prosecute given Heller, HB822 and Vallone's (chairman of the Public Safety Committee) own admission that "“Clearly, the laws are too strict here..." ?

She's going to jail.
The charge might be "illegal possession of a weapon", but the real reason is "criminal stupidity", both on her part and NYC government.

IMO, YMMV
“Clearly, the laws are too strict here, but that’s something we need to work out for ourselves without honoring licenses to carry guns in states where felons can carry them,” he said.
Huh? :confused5
After Graves was arrested, police found a white substance in her purse. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is awaiting test results before considering charges, the Post reports.
If drugs, proof of stupidity.

NY is insane. Please everyone do your research before you go on a trip. It is really upsetting to see peoples lives turned upside down for silly mistakes. I hope she can get out of this jam. It is too bad she did not take her gun back to her car or just decide to forgo the tourist attraction.

Very interested to see what the "White substance" is that was found in her purse! If it is the funny stuff than she is out a CCL and is awarded jail time ++.

This is really an amazing story, as the New York Legislator's are realizing that if they put this women in prison, their house of cards may come down.

It should be obvious to anyone who reads the constitution that NYC gun laws are unconstitutional. The trouble is getting some of those old people in robes to read and obey the constitution instead of the ravings of its enemies.
I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.
