Are you left handed?
nope, but I shoot as well (or as poorly) left handed and all my carry guns are ambi safety.
...agreed...whether the threat comes from the passenger side or the driver's side...you have quick and easy access...in La. I'd hang the holster on the door where they have pockets now...much easier to draw than if it was on my hip...
Well, if on Louisiana Roads I have one on my hip and one in the door panel.

Since I don't have my CHL yet (still waiting to get some ducks lined up so to speak first), I conceal it on my hip, walk out to my car, get in, and then take it out and conceal it in my car. I don't continue to carry it on my person for reasons already stated by others. I don't have a CHL and therefore if I had to get out of my vehicle in a hurry (Car accident, LEO-Please, step out of the vehicle sir, going into a store or other such establishment). Besides, where it is placed I have easier access to it than if it were in a holster on my hip covered by my seat-belt. When I do get my CHL, I am going to continue the practice of concealing it in my car. That is, until I get a car gun too.

Keith B wrote: Yes you can, but as stated may be better to not. You may forget you have it on you and step out of the car for gas or to go to a store. The other factor is if you happened to be in a car accident, and were unconscious, then once they removed you from the vehicle you would be carrying illegally.
(a) A person commits an offense if the person [he]
intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his or
her person a handgun, illegal knife, or club if the person is not:

Unconscious is definitely NOT intentionally or knowingly.

As someone who has been pulled over,,,a lot,,,,I can say no LEO agency in Texas has ever asked me to step out of the vehicle. DPS, HPD, Dallas, Pasadena, Galveston, Harris Cty, Braz Cty, Alvin, Colleges, etc. all have said to stay in the vehicle. I did this study for over 20 years (purely research  ) and never left the car. FYI, I have received very few tickets and have a clean record. Be polite and answer questions and all will usually be ok. Before CHL I would inform them if asked that I had a pistol in the glove box and no LEO has ever cared, they just say to leave it closed and dont reach over there without telling them. For the most part in Texas carrying in the car hasnt been an issue but will be if you make it so by being a jerk to the officer.

Ruark wrote:WITHOUT a CHL, can you carry a concealed handgun on your person, inside your vehicle? I'm aware that you can have one in your vehicle and that it must be concealed, but can it be concealed on your person? Again, this is without a CHL.
Legally yes you are fine.

Out of curiosity why would you want too though. As others have pointed you cannot get out of the car without disarming or breaking the law. This changes your ability to get out of the car as quickly as possible (and legally) from 3 seconds or so to over 10. Also I personally find it hard to get to my gun on my hip while I am in the car driving. I do have a CHL and most of the time I actually take it off my hip and stick it in the middle console for driving.
