Campus carry senator challenged

Interesting article in Statesman about State Senator Wentworth (campus carry sponsor last two sessions) being challenged in Republican primary.

I remember his chief challenger - Ames-Jones - from my time in San Antonio and recollection is mostl positive, solid cOnservative and pro- gun I believe.

For those who know more, additional gun-specific info on both would be appreciated.

All I know is their websites "on the Issues" statements, which are vague enough like an Astrology thing, so they can be read many ways.

2nd Amendment Rights

As a strong supporter of our Second Amendment, I routinely exercise my rights as an American citizen. An accomplished shooter and hunter, I am not only the strongest proponent of Second Amendment rights in this race; I am also the best shot. I pledge to continue Texas’ proud tradition of responsible and constitutional gun ownership.

As a lifelong outdoorswoman and hunter, I understand the natural gifts Texas has provided us. As the Texas Railroad Commissioner, it is my duty to ensure that the procurement of energy is done in a thoughtful and environmentally safe manner. While serving on the Coastal Land Advisory Board, I had the privilege of being named the 2010 “Woman of the Land” by the Texas Wildlife Association Foundation. I will bring that spirit as a “woman of the land” to guard Texas’ resources while ensuring that Texans take advantage of their God-given gift of Texas resources.

Right to Bear Arms
The Second Amendment gives Americans and Texans a fundmental<sic> (fundamental) right to own guns which should never be taken away. The role of the state is to defend that right. I will fight tirelessly to ensure that the Second Amendment is protected in Texas, including on college campuses.
---------------

When my County Judge Donna Klaeger was thinking/being asked to sun for Senate, the Question "Do you have a CHL?" was answered "Me and my Spouse both do, and carry regularly" ... I wish they'd all state if they do or not, and what the 2nd Amendment "means" to their understanding.... Just today some unlearned person needed correcting because he didn't understand the parallel sentence structure of the third and second amendments addressing 2 groups or categories (Soldier/Militia and Property Owners/People, where both the 2nd and 3rd addressed the protection of the second named catagory from the first named, in each... and the difference in duress and consent.

No soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the owner, nor in time of war, but in manner to be prescribed by law.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed
