33 days and Counting

Post by Itnkrman »

Been lurking for a while, thought I'd finally join and add a voice to the discussions.

CHL Class - 11/19
Fingerprints - 11/22
Mailed - 11/22
Received - 12/1
Background and Fingerprints under review since then. :cryin

The waiting game is simply and utterly frustrating. But I know it'll pass just as it has for others that have gone before me.

What's really irritating is the non-linearity of the process. Some applications are in "under review" for as little as 1 or 2 days, while others languish for weeks and weeks. Mine was received and in "under review" status on 12/12, and still is. Others were received after mine, and they already have their cards. Still others, like you, have waited even longer than I have.

In my experience with working in state government, it's a certainty that these applications, because of the sheer number of them, are being farmed out to various people. Some work on them all day every day, others do it part time, while they work on other job duties. "Hey, can you help us with these applications?" "Sure, I'll have some spare time next Thursday, give me some."

Yeah, I know. Whine, whiiiiiine....

No worries, minus some time waiting, it'll be there in no time. I'm now waiting on my Kholster holster. The simple one piece holster I got from Collectors is starting to become uncomfortable. Make sure you order a custom fit holster now so you can avoid the next wait! :banghead:

I'm ahead of the game there, I've already received my Crossbreed for the .40 and been wearing it around the house since right before Christmas. :thumbs2: I've also got a Kholster on order for the 9mm that has already shipped. So I'm all geared up, at least enough to get started, and still waiting, not so patiently, for the plastic. :banghead:

OK, after 36 days in "Under Review" status for both fingerprints and background check I got tired of waiting and wondering so I sent an email asking for an update. :confused5 Hopefully it won't take 30+ days to get a response to the email. :bigmouth

Frustrating, I know....I have been "under review" for 45 days, both BG and fingerprints. You will likely get the "hey, thanks for bugging us...don't bother us until we have had 60 days to review, blah, blah, blah" response, but not going to hurt anything by asking. Maybe you will get an actual human to respond!! I've got some blips in my background, so was expecting it to take a bit longer, but was hoping to luck out...maybe next week?! Good luck to you, and hope your wait is over soon!

Nice! Good job on being prepared. I'll tell ya though, it's funny how people, who know nothing about guns, always like to deeply ask my in detail on why I own a gun (they don't know I carry). Just because they don't exercise their right to bear arms doesn't mean I have to follow their perspective. It does feel weird when I have to unholster or leave my gun at home though.. I feel like I'm missing something.

I'm actually shocked. 2 minutes after I send the email, I get a response. Basically they said, "Thanks for bugging us and yes we have your info. BG & fingerprints are under review. Please visit the website for updates." Duh :confused5 Not exactly sure what I was expecting exactly, but I sure wasn't expecting them to paraphrase my question and re-state the obvious. :grumble

So the wait continues... :cryin

Not entirely sure why they have the email contact form as an option? :confused5 I have never heard of anyone getting an actual response with useful content....only some automated response that doesn't give a lick more information.... :cryin

Oh well, with any luck, the wait won't be much further. I had prepared myself for a goo long wait, so am taking the opportunity to get more trigger time on what will be my daily carry....

Here's to the wait almost being over!!! :cheers2:

After 48 days of waiting and wondering and with a nondescript email as the only update info I'd received so far, my lack of patience finally got the best of me so I called them today. I talked to a very pleasant "technician" who looked up my information and read everything off to me as it was submitted. I was then informed that everything was completed and it would go to manufacturing by this Friday. :anamatedbanana My b-day is in early Feb., so with any luck I'll have a nice (and hopefully early) b-day present. :thewave
