Bass concert hall Austin

I have some friends rolling into Austin for the next few weeks and I will be driving to visit with them. They will be at Bass Concert Hall on the University Campus. I'm assuming that because it is located on the Campus that I am prohibited from carrying there. True...False?

Anything else I might need to know about Austin and the Universtity of Texas Austin?

I usually carry a Benchmade locking folder as part of my work. Are locking blades really illegal in Austin and is it ever actually enforced? They would have to arrest all the backstage crew there if thats the case.

Any insights beyond checking texas3006 would be much appreciated....

I'm also going to be taking my AR and maybe SKS to entertain my friends with. Are those GTG at Reds? Any Wolf or Monarch steel ammo restrictions? I checked their website and couldn't find anything saying so.

AR, SKS, and steel-case ammo all ok at Reds. If you're shooting pistols too, south location is better - all lanes to 100 yards shoot pistol or rifle. North location is segregated pistols only allowed at 25 yard lanes and rifles only at 100 yard lanes.

Be forewarned, acoustics are not good at Red's and firing ARs and SKS will rattle your innards a bit. And the dividers are a bit close together and like to rebound spent semi-auto rifle cases right back at your head, down your shirt collar, under your elbow, etc

Seconded! On the handgun side, the first time I had a .40 S&W case bounce between my glasses and my eye was the last time I went to Red's without a ballcap. And a tight collar is a must.

And that's why I always wear eye protection. I'm not worried about a catastrophic failure of the gun (though perhaps I should be), but I've had spent brass bounce of barriers and hit my eye-protection glasses more than once.

...and the ones with blades less than 5.25 inches. Pretty nice way to preempt state law, huh? My Leatherman could get me prosecuted.

Knowing this, I did a search on several knife sites and found there are some greats knives with blades listed as 5.25 inches. The devil is in the details, however. Where does the officer decide to measure blade length from? If you are not sure what I mean, then take your knife out and look at it. Most knive manufactures measure from the vertical line where the sharpening actually starts. The actual piece of metal coming from the hilt is a little longer.

I read on a knife forum that the LEOs there tend to not break peoples rear-ends about the knives, but that they tend to use illegal knives to add on to other charges they may be filing, to give them a little more oomph.

I kinda figured it was one of those dogpile the charges type enforcements. My knife was legal in San Francisco and I never got harassed but I might be in a Texas city?

The 2nd amendment doesn't say "firearms", it says "arms". While I would look like a complete dork (not that I need any help) I should be able to wear my rapier about town. Its rather clumsy in a denny's booth too.
