Ye Olde Three Diminutive Piglets

Post by Dave2 »

I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

ROFL!!! I used to do a bit in my "Train the Trainer" classes, that I called "Eschew Obfuscation" but was basically just telling the future trainers that their language should play to the lowest common denominator. I wish I had had that routine to play.

Ye verily tis be great humor and thus doth heartily amuse thine self and others.

Or in the words of Larry the Cable Guy 'I don't care who you are, that's funny right there.'

Humorous.

However it is more scary than it is humorous because basically he is making fun of having and using knowledge and people are laughing about it. Sure, maybe today's 10 year old knows more about science and mathematics as well as how to read and write than an elder from a few centuries ago, meaning what we have knowledge of has just changed and not necessarily the amount of knowledge, but is it still appropriate to make fun of that?

If television had a slogan, it would be, "Mindless entertainment so you don't have to think." Of course there will always be the 1% exception that is The History Channel and other likewise shows.

I thought he was making fun of himself for not having the vocabulary to tell a story like that to his kids without having to plan it all out. And possibly of British pigs for making their houses out of straw and twigs when they're not at the top of the food chain.

I suspect he was both mocking our lack of vocabulary and mocking the unnecessary use of excessively fancy language where simple language would suffice.
But I have always been partial to this version of the Three Little Pigs:
