Houston livestock show. Carry??

Post by Craig8d8 »

Anyone here know if it will be ok to carry there? I only plan to be outside around the BBQ cookoff areas. And possibly the stage area outside.

Also can anyone recommend a good place to stay near there? Walking distance? Idk, never been there before.

Thanks again guys/gals!

The rodeo itself is off limits due to being a professional sporting event.

The midway and livestock exhibition are permitted.

don't kill the messenger, but typically if you have not made your reservations by now, the "walking distance" hotels, like the Holiday Inn that backs up to the parking lot are booked a year in advance for that time frame. However, as stated before, as long as you are not going into the stadium for the actual Rodeo, you should be good to go. Not being a huge carnival fan, I am not sure about that area. Wear comfy shoes, and plan to drop some serious funds for food and beverages. One of our favorite stops every year we are down there with the kids showing critters is Alamo Tamales. Best deal we have found and really yummy!

Enjoy~ it is a great time, and being a native Houstonian, something I feel every one should experience!

I don't think you will find walking distance available. If you don't mind driving 20 minutes, you can probably get reasonably priced rooms out near Stafford or the SW portion of beltway 8. PM me if you need help finding that group of hotels.

Also keep in mind there are multiple 51% locations within the grounds. You can avoid them easily, but of you're with a group, you may get drawn in to one and it could be awkward coming up with reasons why you can't join them.

Medical Center area hotels are walking distance ( a few blocks) of the rail stations. Some downtown hotel$$ are walking distance of the rail as well, although Im not one to want to walk about downtown at night.
