Officer shot while on duty by fellow officers

Post by olafpfj »

After reading the article I can kinda understand the urgency of arresting him but there had to have been a better way.

Reminds me of the story about a guy the police tried to arrest at the shooting range. I mean who signed off on that plan? It ended poorly of course.

My aunt and one of my cousins live there. That's where I went August 2010 for my uncle's funeral.

Sounds like a really ugly scene. I'd like to see the video.

Sounds like a fine example of the law of unintended consequences. Sad that such a thing happened.

...witness intimidation is a felony...the story as posted justifies the aggressive arrest...the execution was flawed...had he been allowed to leave and get the witness in a hostage situation, it could have been much worse...

:iagree: I just assumed the initial charge must have been sexual assault... :iagree: poorly executed arrest

...seems like a good case for the use of a Taser...

You don't use a Taser when deadly force is necessary. If the officer was wearing a vest then the barbs might not penetrate and would do no good. Too risky at that point in time.

Following the 17 year old victim of the cop, the person I feel the most for is the officer that shot him. Can you imagine the hell he is going through. He worked with this guy for four years and had to shoot him, maybe had even trained him, ate lunch with him, knew his family, dang!!!!

...reading the article, deadly force wasn't necessary...if they'd tased him initially, there wouldn't have been a struggle, he wouldn't have drawn...and nobody would have lost their life...if they were close enough to struggle, they could have put the barbs where they'd have worked just fine...

...hard enough to shoot ANYONE...much less a friend...
