Spotty Recent Work History?

Post by EricB »

Greetings all! Quick question - planning on getting my CHL this month, and I have an absolutely clean background. I worked for the same company for over 20 years, but was laid off in '04, and have had trouble finding work since. I have a great job now, but have been here just over 6 months (have lived at the same address since June of '04).
Does this throw a wrench into the application process?
Great forum, looking forward to chatting with y'all!

It will not. When you give your work histroy just make sure there are no date gaps. If you were unemployed for 2mo, worked at abc factory as a temp for 3mo, unemployed for 6weeks, Juvember retail store for 7mo, ......just make sure there are no gaps. You might include a statement to the fact of your lay off & now permanent job.

The key factor is no gaps in your dates. They will not contact any of your employers.

Welcome aboard. :tiphat:

I think it's mainly so they know where you have been hanging out so they can pay special attention to those cities and counties when looking for someone who knows if you've been bad or good.

Thanks for the input. I figured it would not affect it, except for perhaps taking longer to process.
In fact I had an insurance license for several of those years, and that requires a background check as well.
Plus, even though I had some gaps in employment (nasty economic times to be job-hunting, ya know), I in fact lived at the same address in Wylie for 16 years, before moving here to Murphy since 2004.
Thanks again, and great to be aboard!

i found it odd that if you were between jobs the application would not allow you to proceed

Unemployed is a valid entry.
