How to tell if your state sucks
Illinois seems to have two strikes against it now.

Didn't know about this one, but makes sense considering the other strike I knew about.

craziness. what that's what i'd expect.
just wondering, where does TX stand on this? can i record private conversations (between me and a 2nd party)? do i have to disclose "this conversation may be recorded for quality purposes"?

IIRC, in Texas only one party to the recording has to consent. So if you are one of the parties you don't need the other party's consent.

Yes, "single party consent".SlickTX wrote:IIRC, in Texas only one party to the recording has to consent. So if you are one of the parties you don't need the other party's consent.
Honestly, is anybody surprised here when the laws of Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, or California appear too draconian? Seriously?
I don't fear guns; I fear voters and politicians that fear guns.

Don't y'all think that it's pretty much what one's brought up with and/or used to? Afterall, the Sullivan Law has been on the books in NYC for 100 years, Massachusetts kept electing Kennedys, the states of Illinois and Kalifornia have their goofy gun laws and are run by mobsters and loonies in the metro areas. It's up to the residents to affect changes in the way their state is run...IF the residents want the rules/procedures, etc. changed. ITMT, I'll continue to avoid those places where I'm not welcome.

Also an owner of a business does not have to inform employees or customers they are recording phone conversations or activity in the place of business. They may NOT video in bathrooms or dressing rooms or sleeping areas. In Texas if the call or activity is recorded/video'd in Texas

When I read the title the first thing that popped in my head was:
We know that Oklahoma sucks. Otherwise Texas would slide into the Gulf of Mexico!

Re: How to tell if your state sucks
Easy answer...
http://2010.census.gov/2010census/data/ ... p-text.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The population of the United States increased by 9.7% from 2000 to 2010.
If a State's population increased by a lesser amount than this, it's because it "sucks" and its' citizens voted with their feet.
