Drug Overdose

Whether the need is great or small, there is power in prayer, especially when God's people raise their voices together.

Drug Overdose

Post by MMG »

My youngest brother, who I have only known for about ten years (long story that involves me being adopted), was found in his car near death on January 13th. He was rushed to the hospital and was not expected to survive. The doctors could not determine what he had taken because it is a rare "designer drug" called DOB. If you live in Austin, you may have seen the story on KXAN. This drug causes blood vessel restriction. He suffered multiple strokes and had to have his left leg amputated from the knee down. He was in ICU for a month and just moved to the neurology floor to begin recovery. He now faces months of rehabilitation... he is only 20. Please keep this young man, Erik, in your prayers. I am not even sure he believes in God, but I do, and I believe in the power of prayer.

I've seen programs on TV about these "designer drugs." They are so, SO dangerous. Praise God that your brother is alive. Maybe this is the wakeup call he needed to get his life in order. As we say in Celebrate Recover, "I can't. God can. I'm going to let Him."

I pray for your brother's recovery.....both physical and spiritual.

Prayers for both your brother and you. These "designer" drugs are the new scourge.

Update:
He is alert and talking! He had stopped communicating with us and was only answering with head shakes and hand gestures. I called his aunt to check on him a couple of days ago, and he answered the phone. It was so wonderful to hear his voice. He still has a long way to go but surviving what he has is clearly a miracle.
Thank you all for your prayers! GOD IS GOOD!
