One-to-One Training

I have been asked by a total novice who has hearing difficulties to "teach him about guns", specifically handguns. In such situations, do you:

1)ever do the introductory (non-firing) part - terminology, safety rules, general handling, etc. - in the student's home or (closed) office?
and
2) more significantly, do you use an unloaded but otherwise standard pistol as a training aid in familiarizing the student with all that is part of the learning process? Specifically, I am referring to actions like safety-on/safety-off, magazine insertion/release, dry-firing, racking, stance, grip, and all of the other little things that are sometimes difficult to teach in the BOOM-BOOM-BOOM of a busy gun range.

I just did a basic handgun training for a friend at their home Sunday afternoon. Went over the safety rules, baisc handling, proepr operation, grip, funcitons of each type of firearm, etc. Everything but the loading and shooting. We did shootingTuesday night at the range and worked on proper stance, breathing and trigger control techniques. By end of the hour range session she was putting every round in the bullseye at 7 yards and had NEVER fired any type of gun before in her life.

I am going to a friend's house on Saturday to do a First Steps pistol class for a couple. We will go to the range after we cover all the basics. They have reasons for not wanting to do a classroom setting, but they are not hearing impaired.

And yes, we will be using a variety of regular firearms (unloaded) in the home. Snap-caps will also be used to teach loading and unloading. If your friend is hearing impaired, then visual aids will be very helpful.
