I think that this is an excellent place to start.

IMO, some of the best defense lawyers are former top notch prosecutors.

Just because a lawyer is famous or high profile doesn't mean that he/she will be the best in a criminal case.

A prime example is the so-called "King of Torts" Melvin Belli, who managed to get a death sentence for his client Jack Ruby.
