NECK KNIVES ? anyone wear one ? like it ?

Post by rcasady »

i have a cheap one that i quit wearing when i got my chl so i just sport a pocket knife again , but im looking at going back to wearing one , particularly the tiny finger hole style ...
heres what im looking at ,

and mayyyybe this lil guy , but i have a meyerco and the blade material isnt impressive , then again its a $12 knife

i like the small small ones for a necklace , since i always have a large folding blade i kinda like the idea if a last ditch poker/slasher

the hideaway are cool . lots of blade options and holster/mounting options i believe they are all made custom to your finger measurements but they get a little spendy , cheapest one (one i like ) is $69

what do you guys think about these lil knives , anyone own or have an opinion ?

I don't like wearing anything around my neck. The one time as a kid someone actually tried to get me to fight, the first thing he did was grab the chain around my neck and use it to control my movements. Not fun.

yea strong chains/ropes about the neck is an invitation to be choked, military dog tags are on a ball chain that breaks easily, cover must be worn without the strings around the jaw. the K pot is the only headgear that has a chin strap that is used. so nope no neck wear for me thanx

excellent points as far as self defense, certainly does change my mind about wearing all the time . i still might wear one strictly as a tool . i am a beach bum and when i'm home i'm usually in board shorts and although i do carry my .380 in my shorts usually a knife is excessive weight , unless im in the water then the gun stays and the knife goes .

i found myself in an odd circumstance once in Galveston surfing . another fella paddling next to me got hooked in the hand by a fisherman on the jetties . at first i chuckled and thought man that sucks but in 2 seconds he was off his board underwater struggling for air .... lucky for him i could see the fishing line and initially wanted to bite it untill i realized it was braided fishing line and almost cut my finger . but guess who had a knife around their neck :thumbs2:
u never know , theres a tool for everything

I do have a hideaway knife (tigerclaw) that I keep on my belt in a velcro thingy with some spare keys. I think I'd always have it in a pocket or on a belt... not around my neck.

I have been looking for a good hide out knife. Shoot, I already carry a BUG, why not a sharp little knife if in case I drop my main one, or I can not get to it? If nothing else, it would be mighty handy in an auto accident where you need to cut seat belts in a New York minute.

Dangit!!!!!

This thread reminded me that I wanted a necker. ESEE makes the Izula which is supposed to be a really tough knife. This thread prompted me to go to eBay to buy this:

I wear a neck knife and my house key on a dog tag chain when I'm jogging or at the beach. I usually also have my CHL and a pistol in my fanny pack when I'm jogging if it's practical, but always have at least one knife with me.

...for those of you who want an emergency rescue knife for fishing line hangups and seat belts...the CRKT Bear Claw is available with plain edge, serrated, or blunt tip serrated for emergency rescue work....

Just picked up a Boker Magnum. I like it. Comes with a kydex sheath and black dog tag chain. Wears very flat around my neck, and with a button up shirt it hides nicely behind the buttons.

I've wanted an inexpensive "Get off me" knife for a while as a backup to my CCW. I figured the neck holder is about as ambidextrous as you can get, and my belt is already crowded.

I bought the Boker at Top Brass Military Supply here in San Antonio. It's a new store. Decent selection of knives.

Really like the Esee Izula. Gonna order me one. I have a DPX Esee, which is one of my absolute favorites.

Edit: Ordered one from KnifeWorks yesterday for 60.95 plus 7.97 S&H. Got the notice already that it shipped today.
