Good scare!

Post by pbwalker »

Just happened...

Sitting out in my garage nose deep in the internet. I'm out in the sticks now, so it is very quiet at night. All of a sudden, the horrible crashing noise of our garbage can falling over. We're in the middle of a bathroom remodel, and it's full of tile, so you can imagine the noise.

Never have I had my pistol unholstered and low ready as quickly as I did then! I had the beejeebers scared out of me! In that split second of noise, I knew that (1) my wife was in the kitchen and (2) the girls were in bed. I was drawing. Slo-Mo thought process in full effect.

Never found out what it was...saw no animals (2 or 4 legged).

I have to get up early...so much for going to bed now! "rlol"

Probably a coon digging in the trash. You might want to get tamper-proof lids...although I really have never seen anything they could not figure out. I guess a little OD on adrenaline is good for you once in awhile...see if you can still respond the right way. Hope you get a few hours of sleep!

At least you had your pistol. When that kind of thing happened to me last month, I did not have a pistol close. It was even worse, because I'm on crutches right now.

Get an IR game camera. It will help you find out what's poking around the garbage at night.

Had the same thing happen in my garage some onths ago at 3 AM. Instantly awake gun in hand. Pile of ole magazines fell over. Culprit Gravity. could be the same with that heavy tile.
