This happen to any one else?

Post by razoraggie »

I just received my "return receipt" from the Post Office for my mailed application packet. Now correct me here if I am wrong: but doesn't "Certified Mail" mean that some one must sign for your package before that can receive it? I get the card back today with no name, so signature and no date. I emailed DPS to see if they could confirm receipt of my application. Gotta love the good 'ol Post Office....
I can really see why there is a saying....."I shoulda used FedEx". :???:

You do not get a signature with certified mail unless you request and pay for return receipt.

From the USPS website;

With Certified Mail™ you can be sure your article arrived at its destination with access to online delivery information. When you use Certified Mail, you receive a receipt stamped with the date of mailing. A unique article number allows you to verify delivery online. As an additional security feature, the recipient’s signature is obtained at the time of delivery and a record is maintained by the Post Office™. For an additional fee, you can request a copy of the signature record before or after delivery with Return Receipt.

For an additional fee, request a copy of the signature record before or after delivery with Return Receipt.

Thx TX....I did pay for the return receipt with signature confirmation. Guess I need to take this one up with my "zip code".

Yes you should have a signature. Someone must physically sign for certified mail upon delivery. Could be that yours missed getting rubber stamped at the DPS mail room.

Mine came back with a stamped signature and printed name ,title (mail room clerk) and address along with the delivery date.

If you got the green card back in the mail I wouldn't worry too much, but it might be worth making a complaint to the post office for peace of mind.

Who knows, they might even follow up on it!

Call your local post office and ask for the number to the Consumer Affairs Dept. (817-317-3623 if you live in Ft Worth area) I had this same problem with my packet and they were able to confirm that it was indeed delivered. Good luck

WOW...I really didn't expect this, but I won't complain:

To DPS:

I received my return receipt from the post office for my CHL application packet that was completed and mailed to you on 2-20-07. I received this notice over a week ago, but there is no signature on the return receipt so I just wanted to verify that you had indeed received my application and/or it is being processed. I'm sorry to be asking you this, but the Post Office did not live up to their end of the bargain when I paid for delivery confirmation. Thank you for your time.

After 2 emails, I get a pretty decent response. And to top it off; about 2 minutes after receiving this email I get a phone call from Tracy stating that she has my application in hand and will begin processing it immeadiatley and then she appoloigized for the wait. I think I'll send her a card. :lol:
