13 year old diagnosed with cancer

Whether the need is great or small, there is power in prayer, especially when God's people raise their voices together.

13 year old diagnosed with cancer

Post by FuziDave »

i was saddened to find out a friend of mine's son was diagnosed with cancer.

he was complaining for a sore throat for a long time. turns out there was a mass pressing on his windpipe. then they found another one in his chest. he's going through chemo right now. otherwise a VERY invasive surgery would be required.

shouldn't happen to one so young.

he's in pretty good spirits tho.

Very sorry to hear. Prayers for him and the family. Glad he has a positive attitude. A good friend of mine is an Oncologist and he says it is a proven fact that if you strip out all the other things and look at the attitude and keeping positive on being cured, that the percentage is above 85% survival vs. those with negative attitudes that 'just give up' and don't care.

The whole family is in my prayers! As an adult it's a rough road and I wish children could be spared from traveling it.

He's a really good kid. He's also adopted, so there's no family history to go off of.

He asked if I'd like to shave my head too. ;-)

I found a better thing. St Baldicks is an organization that raises money for kid cancer research. So I signed up. I hit up friends for donations. Then I get my head shaved  It's easier than a walk-a-thon :smilelol5:

Our prayers will be him and his family, I do believe a positive attitude has a lot to do with survival rate--my wife is still with me!!!!!!!!

I wanted to mention this one more time.

I’m participating in St Baldrick's, which raises money for kid cancer research. people donate on my head, and on March 31 it gets shaved, to stand with the kids who loose their hair to chemo. I’m half way to my goal. and it's in two weeks.

you can see my page here:

please donate if you are so inclined.

thanks.

It shouldn't happen to anyone at all. Cancer is an evil beast that has affected someone close to me as well.
Bless you for doing what you can to help this young man.

Will be praying for him. I work at MD Anderson here in Houston (facilities engineering so I'm all over the institution) the experiences can be depressing at times, especially with the little ones. But, an interesting thing is that the kids are not as affected (or at least it seems that way) by their illness as adults are. Another thing I've told my wife is that I see more couples holding hands than any other place. Makes me realize even more how special she is!
