My worst one in the squad was a gentleman that "has shot all his life", was there for his third renewal, and finally had to admit he hadn't fired a pistol in 4 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His ammo was so old it wouldn't function the gun (constant FTE), I had to finally give up and hand him some of mine. I pulled him aside at the end of the day and told him he needed to dispose of that ammo, buy some new stuff and get some practice/training before he hurt himself or got killed because his gun wouldn't function.

It was a long afternoon. I was just glad we all left with the same number of holes we came with. :woohoo
Never mess around with ammo that has been exposed to that Texas coast humidity for a long time.
Heck you know it. his primers were coroded and green. LOL He offered to give it to me and I said "No thanks". I like what Jerry Miculek says, "Once you open a box of ammo you have to hurry up and shoot it before they go stale. LOL :patriot:

I tried to teach my wife to ski. We stayed married, but I don't know how.

Today I tried to teach my wife how to turn off unused programs on her iPhone that were still on and running and using up her bandwidth (She got the dreaded ATT text message "your 95% of internet users"). This was over the phone. She actually asked which round button.

Helping the wife with her shooting test?

That man better hope she doesn't learn to shoot..... I can't say what I think about this. Getting started shooting is hard enough emotionally for so many women and to be forced to use something that is obviously not fun or appropriate is just wrong! Shame on him. I hope she finds something she likes and gets to try again. :mad5

Yup. He should have been removed from the line as soon as he started causing problems for her.
The problems go beyond the shooting range, y'all. That's just where you saw it. I'll bet she sees it a lot.

And my alltime favorite from Confusious "Man who stand on toilet high on pot." :coolgleamA:

I really do hope this young lady will come back by herself and let me show her how easy it is to shoot when you aren't being harrased.

I had a lady last year that was with CCPD for 14 years, was transferring to CCISDPD and could not qualify after trying for two weeks. After working with her for about an hour, she qualified. If I can get the male egos to stand down and back off, I actually can teach someone how to shoot. Sometimes it just takes a few kind words of encouragement and some helpful and useful hints. Not just screaming "Use your sights!"."AIM!!"

Yes they do, especially if someone gets to teach them properly without intimidation.

Can you call that a stress inoculator?
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... (Jefferson quoting Beccaria)

... tyrants accomplish their purposes ...by disarming the people, and making it an offense to keep arms. - Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story, 1840

:iagree:
if she ever does learn to shoot I wouldn't want to upset her again. ;-)
I try to break up all the couples in my classes. Not a firm rule but, maybe it should be.
Did you learn something new today and did you smile? if not, why?

I will be working with her tomorrow afternoon. The husband called and tried to "tell me what we should do" to help her. NOT. I let him know we will start out with a 1911 .22lr to get the basics down and then if she does well with that and likes the feel she can use my 1911 9mm to qualify. (same platform, just a little more ummph) If she feels up to trying my PT111 we can try that as well, notice, no .40 for her tomorrow, and more importantly no hubby alowed on the firing line. :thumbs2:

See fellers, that is why I like a 1911 in all calibers. :coolgleamA: She will fall in love with the .22 and be confident with the 9mm. I will show her a couple other guns just to help her decide what may be better to carry, including a snubby. When we are done, hubby will be pistol shopping. "rlol" :evil2:

Glad she is coming back to work with you, but while hubby may be "paying" SHE will be doing the shopping!! He has GOT to understand that he can't pick out her gun any more than he can pick out her shoes(or her bras)

He will definitely be "paying" for his actions and a new pistol, however I will be helping her free of charge. I should have kept her from failing the first time. :tiphat:

I am looking forward to letting her find her own way to be comfortable with firearms, and see that she CAN defend herself.

UPDATE: Well, I had her dry fire a 1911-22 working on sight alignement etc. then put 10 rounds through it , followed by dry firing the PT1911-9mm then 10 rounds all placed VERY well. A little work on stance and a constant reminder of grip and trigger pull, and she passed! 227, much better than her frist run at 165. Finished up letting her try a snubby with 130 gr jacketed bullets. She liked it too and shot it very well. SHe has some new ideas of what to look for. They joined the CLub, and I will be looking forward to helping in the future. :thumbs2:
