Post by Topdog77c »

Registered mail for sure. Just to make sure it didn't get lost in the mail.

You don't have to tip DPS but some kind of tracking on the envelope is a good idea. Just don't expect your status to update on the DPS website the same day USPS says it was delivered.

I don't think it really matters much other than not having to wonder if they got it - which you will be doing when you don't see an update after the first 3 or 4 days. All I did was stick a stamp on it and drop it into the regular first class bin at the PO. My license was back in my mailbox exactly 3 weeks later.

Sent mine USPS certified return receipt. They got it in 2 days and I knew they got it in 2 days. Registered is good but cost a few more bucks. Hope the waiting time passes quickly for you.

Make copies of everything. Certified mail with tracking is good enough. Registered goes under lock and key - according to the good folks over at my local post office. DPS will probably not sign for any mail.

Don't check online every day. It will only drive you crazy. Once you've sent the envelope on it's way don't check for at least 30 days and then maybe every two weeks. I don't think I even checked once, but then my wife and I were also able to wait until our daughter was born to discover if we had a daughter or a son.

If you don't already have a good belt and holster combo- get to ordering quickly! Many good ones take longer than the plastic to arrive. ;-)
