Re: Man Dies After Drinking Gasoline
Anybody here old enough to remember the network coverage of the Bhuddist Monk who said himself on fire in Saigon during the 10 year long Viet Nam non-war?
Re: Man Dies After Drinking Gasoline
not me, but I have seen a few videos of Tibetan monks and nuns setting fire to themselves. Brutal.

I remember, I mean I read about it in the history books.Oldgringo wrote:Anybody here old enough to remember the network coverage of the Bhuddist Monk who said himself on fire in Saigon during the 10 year long Viet Nam non-war?

Many people think that this photo was a major factor in turning the tide of Americans from supporting the Vietnam war to protesting it.

That one, and the still photo of the South Vietnamese guy shooting the handcuffed guy in the head, as well as the naked little girl running down the road from the napalm didn't help increase support for that undeclared war either. Nightly TV coverage showed the folk at home that indeed, "war is hell". {That's a famous quote, Mods. It's not a veiled attempt to talk nasty.}WildBill wrote:I remember, I mean I read about it in the history books.Oldgringo wrote:Anybody here old enough to remember the network coverage of the Bhuddist Monk who said himself on fire in Saigon during the 10 year long Viet Nam non-war?![]()

I will admit here that I'm from NC originally. Got to Texas as quick as I could.WildBill wrote:HAVELOCK, N.C. — A man in North Carolina burned to death after he accidentally drank some gasoline and then later lit up a cigarette.
What is with this people in North Carolina?

Havelock is down east near the coast.....huge Marine base there...MCAS Cherry Point.
We always used to joke that NC has 12 million people, only 7 last names.
And most of these "events" begin this way....."Well, me and Delbert was drinkin'......" Not usually petrol, but hey if no 'shine is around, its the next best thing.

An Anti-gun guy expressed to me that he wanted all guns banned due to the occasional "accidents" (negligence) that occurs.
Great, next the Liberals will want to ban gasoline instead of just raising the price and etc.
And
This guys name is "Banning"

Sometime on Monday, 43-year-old Gary Banning...
...Banning spit out the mouthful of gas
