My "new" Kimber polymer pseudo 1911

So Kevin, how fat is this thing in the hand compared to M&P, XD, XDm, and Glock .45s?

I have no Idea, Never held one of those. Or any other type double stack .45. But I have double stacked Para Ordnance's and I will say the grip width of the Kimber is thinner than the para's. Since the Kimber does not have grip panals, It be like if you took the thin grips off a double stacked para. Which in turn makes the "total" width of the Kimber grip more narrow than a standard 1911 with regular grips(more full bodied of course).

Albeit a far-far better gun. It's 3x's what i paid for the Kimmy. I'm really interested to see the price point of the new RRA poly, the Dark earth one is going to be sick! Something to look forward to saving for next year!


Back the thickness of the grip here are some comparisons:

vs. Para Hawg 9(same width as any other para double)


vs. standard 1911(the grips on it might be a tad wider then normal)

My brother owned one when they first came out. I don't think they are in production anymore. He got his in 2004-05? for about $500. It was a fine shooting gun. Very accurate. I could not for the life of me get used to the .. plastic feel to it. I'm not trying to bash polymer by all means, but if it had .. let's say grips on it, I guess I would like it more? I know it's not possible, but trying to explain the best way I can. Just couldn't get used to the polymer feel..

Kimberly just won't give up on the external extractor thing

this gun is "old" They gave it up years back, although not sure why they couldn't get any where with it? S&W and Sig do just fine with their externals on their 1911's.

My Tactical Ultra EDC has the dreaded external extractor and it has not failed in over 12 years...
