Winchester model 1894 made in 1909.

Post by bci21984 »

This rifle has sat in a gun closet since I was old enough to notice it. I deer hunted with it as a kid and have shot it on a few occasions. I have wanted it to be mine since the first time i shot it. Tonight my Grandpa, the man im named after, gave it to my father. One day my childhood dream of owning it will come true. While my dad was loading it in his jeep I made note of the serial number and looked up the date of manufacture. It lists as a birthdate of 1909. Gun porn for your viewing pleasures.

Thanks for the post. Interesting, but I didn't know that John Browning designed the Winchester Model 1894.

Nice rifle! Hate to see that black nylon sling on it. ;-) My Dad gave me his 94 made in 1956. I shot my first deer with it. It's been locked up in the safe for a few years now.

Beautiful rifle! I too, now have a possibly 100+ year old rifle that belonged to my Great Grandpa. My Dad finally gave it to me and I'll pass it on to my daughter or Grandson if she gives me any. It's a 1906 Winchester pump .22LR that is known as a "gallery gun." It still works and is fun to shoot. It was the first gun I ever shot. Unfortunately, it was not the first gun my daughter ever shot, but it will, hopefully, be my Grand kids' first gun to shoot.

I still haven't figured out how to do the picture thing here, but this is a link to someone elses. I did not read everything on this page, but what I did see looked okay for our rules.

The only gun he ever gave me is a Browning gold medallion A-bolt. I feel so mistreated and left out. :biggrinjester:
