Recommendations for general contractor - Forney tornado dama

Post by couzin »

Our daughter and SILs house sustained damage during Forney tornado (windows blown out, brick damage, roof impact, possibly some movement to second floor (although adjusters say there is none), and some interior damage to walls and floors). Do any of you have a recommendation of a general contractor experienced in restoring homes after damage? Should be local and do quality guaranteed work. Post or PM me here with recommendations and even those that they should avoid. They will be getting two estimates probably - so one of two contractors will not get the job and they should be OK with that.

After Ike , I say finding good local general contractor starts with 3 year old telephone book. The first step is your our adjustor!!!! The keys is money from insurance and "restored to whole". Good luck.

:iagree: Too many fly-by-night "contractors" ripped off many people after Ike.

I don't know if it's something they do, but those Statewide folks that do remodeling could probably hand it. We're thinking about having them redo our bathrooms later this year.

When I worked for the Corps of Engineers I was deployed to a bunch of disaster areas. Yes - the storm chasers show up like ants at a picnic. True - some are legitimate contractors - but I witnessed some really bad work and folks being ripped left and right.
