Need help reporting a probable eBay Scammer
Here is one of his items:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Leve-1-2-3-4-5- ... 0857765011" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
First, that is a very low price for the item.
Second, it is located in New York, the seller is located in Hong Kong.
Third, the seller has 21 feedback (all positive), but they're for buying $1 items.
Fourth, he has 5 listings just like this, and a 6th listening that is just mumbo jumbo.
Fifth, its a poorly written item title.
Sixth, the account was just created a few days ago.
I've only ever bought two items off of eBay (a Ruger LCP laser and a car radiator), so I'm no expert, but this guy looks like a scammer.
What's the best way to report this?
EDIT: added reason #6.

Re: Need help reporting a probable eBay Scammer
just forget it, its not a scam nor is it worth making a big deal over
Re: Need help reporting a probable eBay Scammer
I'm no expert either but under payment type it says he only accepts PayPal. My understanding is this is a very safe way to exchange money and disputes are easily resolved.

I guess the only victim would be PayPal then. Once the scammer gets the money, he/she transfers it out, closes the account and nets about $90 for an hour or so of work.jmra wrote:I'm no expert either but under payment type it says he only accepts PayPal. If it truly is a scam PayPal will weed them out. Trust me, PayPal is not losing money.Thomas wrote:I guess the only victim would be PayPal then. Re: Need help reporting a probable eBay Scammer
I purchase a lot of items on eBay and use paypal. I live in the country and a lot of my everyday items are purchased thru eBay and delivered to my house, often for much less than it would cost me to drive to town and buy.
This guy has too many red flags for me. I would not even consider it (regardless of the cheap price). When I tried to look at his 21 positive feedback there was none listed.

When it comes to online auctions, do just what you did: Look at their transactions, if something doesn't seem kosher, it probably isn't (too low a Buy It Now price, not enough feedback, etc.) and just move on.
I have bought and sold a lot of stuff off of eBay and 99% of my transactions have been very smooth and legit.

The feedback is for being a good buyer, not seller.Thomas wrote:Okay. Thank you all for the responses.
I have tried to contact ebay to report a post, but went through such a maze I forgot how to do it.

Yep, that's what I noticed about the feedback.WildBill wrote:The feedback is for being a good buyer, not seller.Thomas wrote:Okay. Thank you all for the responses.

I wanted to report it, but there were so many options, I didn't know which one to choose.
Another TexasCHLforum member PMed me to let me know he/she reported it.
Re: Need help reporting a probable eBay Scammer
That explains why I didn't see the feedback when I looked for it. I checked again for feedback as a buyer and see the posts. They are ALL his buddies from China and most of the items were "Private" so you cannot even see what he supposedly bought.
Definately a SCAMMER.

Re: Need help reporting a probable eBay Scammer
I reported the item I linked to twice:
Listing practices -> Other listing practices -> Item location misrepresentation
"The item location information in the listing may be misleading or doesn't match the description."
----
If you have an eBay account, select one of his items at random and report it please:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/constance45rt545fm/m.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This guy is just one of many scammers, but hopefully one less person will be scammed.
EDIT: removed one of the reasons after being corrected

It appears the listings are all for different languages. That's not the same item.Thomas wrote:I reported the item I linked to twice:
Listing practices -> Duplicate listings -> Fixed price listing
"This listing is a duplicate of another fixed price (or Buy It Now) listing from the same seller."
