Versacarry - My experience with my Glock 29

Post by celljon »

Hey everyone,

I figured I’d write a review for this holster since I found little info on them when I was researching holsters. Hopefully this will help someone make a decision on whether or not this holster matches their POU (philosophy of use) for the particular firearm they are looking to get a holster for.

I bought mine for my Glock 29 10mm, which is pretty hard to find a holster for in the first place. That’s what I liked about the idea behind Versaclip is that the shape of the weapon had no bearing on the fitting to the holster. Granted the pin on the clip is color coated for caliber, but if I had a Glock 23 or 27 I’m sure it would work fine in those as well being that they are .40 S&W. The clip size I bought was for a particular ride height, so because of that I probably wouldn’t use it for a Glock 22, but then again I can’t conceal a Glock 22 in the climate I live in anyway.

The POU of this holster is definitely a minimalist holster. It has only what’s needed and nothing more. It’s really sturdy though. Whatever plastic it’s made of seems up to the wear and tear of daily use. Despite it’s minimalist design it actually handles my Glock 29 quite well. It’s a super comfortable holster, which was pretty shocking. Comfort was one thing that I was worried about when I initially bought this. I tried carrying my Kimber CDP Pro 1911 in a holster that’s supposed to be a near-minimalist style holster but just couldn’t hold the weight comfortably of all that metal. That's why I was skeptical at first. The Glock 29 is only .5 oz lighter than my 1911 (both weighed fully loaded) and now I often find myself leaving the 1911 at home and taking my 29 because that other holster just isn’t comfortable enough. I’m probably going to pick up another Versacarry for my 1911 or wait since supposedly they are working on a design with a canting feature.

All in all this isn’t the last Versacarry I’m getting. If it can handle a medium frame size this well it will probably work wonders with small frame guns. I just picked up a Ruger LCP at a gun show for these very hot summer days coming up and this holster seems to be the ticket for carrying it without bulk. All in all, this holster will probably suite your needs if you’re in the market for this style holster. Plus they are out of Texas which makes them good in my book. PROUD TEXAN HERE :txflag:

I hope this was helpful.

Post pics please. What is Versacarry? I watched the video on you-tube for Gen2 version. I guess with no leather between the pistol and your skin, the pistol will dig hard in your body. That is more or the less the case if you are seated in car or at work for hours each day.

It's an S shaped gadget where one end clips into the gun barrel and the other end clips on your pants. Here's a pic from their website.

It's an almost guaranteed cure for those who have not yet experienced a ND. Not to mention that the manufacturer states that it is not to be used with a gun that has a round chambered. Less than useless, except for separating a fool from his money.

BTW, I had an argument with a Versacarry shill on another forum and their solution to every issue raised was to blurt out supposed LEO credentials and to say that anyone who is not a retired LEO doesn't have a valid opinion. Their answer to not carrying with a round chambered is that their lawyers made them say that but they don't really believe it.

Great, with the trigger shield in place your butt can't get to the trigger, but the pen in your pocket can.
