BTW, "Helter Skelter" is a very good read. IIRC, it was written by the prosecuting attorney, wasn't it?
No, it was written by Paul McCartney.
Actually, the book was named after the song and it was written by Vincent Bugliosi who was the prosecutor.
IIRC, "helter skelter" was written in blood on a surface in the Polanski/Tate residence. I was in northern Nevada building a power plant when this happened. It was pretty big news at the time.
I was living in So Cal when all this stuff went down. My ex-wife even went out once or twice with Bobby Beausoleil before he got arrested, not realizing that he was part of a murderous cult at the time. But she dropped him like a hot potato when he made some comment to her about how she would enjoy death. He was arrested not too long afterward.
Creeeeeeeepy!

"Healter(sic) Skelter", "Rise" and "Death to Pigs" was written at the Labianca residence after their murders the day after the Tate residence murders. Strangely the police said the murders weren't related even though similar writings were at both and also at the murder scene of Gary Hinman. Bobby Beausoleil scrawled "Political Piggy" in Hinman's blood. It was almost by sheer luck and coincidence the cases were finally solved.

TAM ,
Truman Capote interviewed Bobby Beausoleil in prison. He IS one Creepy Dude! Even more than Charlie, in my opinion. I think Manson is now a lot of bluff and tries to live up to what people expect to some extent, but Beausoleil is just Creeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepy as you stated.

I haven't mentioned to my sister who recently moved out near Lake Lavon that the most blood-thirsty of the bunch, Charles 'Tex' Watson, was born and raised within a mile of where she lives now. That doesn't really mean anything but I know it would freak her out.
(Edited to replace the word "creep" with "freak" since it has been used a lot already - lol!).

Manson wanted him killed for brushing him off after awhile. The house was where Brian used to live, instead they killed the pregnant Sharon Tate, who was the new tenant.
Don't tattoo a swastika to your forehead if you ever want to be paroled.
Kinda nice seeing him doing so well. (sarcasm smilie)
Actually it was Dennis Wilson who was trying to get Charlie a recording contract. Neither Brian or Dennis Wilson lived in the house where Sharon Tate and the others were killed. I believe it was record producer Terry Melcher [Doris Day's son] who had lived there.
Wild Bill, you beat me to it. I didn't see your post before I edited mine.
Thanks guys for getting it all straight for me. Manson if I remember, had a posse of hot looking hippy girls with him. This I think was "Dennis" Wilson's interest. They would do anything Manson asked, including trying to assassinate President Ford.
Glad he wasn't smarter and got into politics.
Manson had a knack for finding vulnerable young girls who could be easily controlled and manipulated by him. Dennis Wilson, being the horndog that he was, probably had more interest in the young hippie chicks than Charlie's musical talent.
