Vast Majority in U.S. Support Concealed Carry, Self Defense

Post by VMI77 »

Despite anti-gun zealots’ exploitation of Trayvon Martin’s now-infamous killing in late February, a new survey revealed that the vast majority of Americans continue to support the use of deadly force if needed in self-defense – even outside of the home. Laws permitting the carrying of concealed weapons have overwhelming public support as well, according to the Ipsos/Reuters poll released last week.
The article: http://lewrockwell.com/spl4/americans-s ... carry.html

refers to this poll conducted for Reuters: http://www.ipsos-na.com/download/pr.aspx?id=11545

I can't believe how the poll show 3 to 1 gun supporters and at the same the majority strongly agree to limit number of firearms sold in a given time frame.
Also, why the question of automatic weapons? those weapons are virtual banned from sale, no new built, all registered with the Feds. It is a deceptive question to infer to the black styled semi-auto rifles.

If the vast majority in U.S. support CC, how come it's banned in many vast metropolitan areas up and down both coasts as well as the current POTUS' adopted home state? Are you tellin' me that the majority does not rule in our republic?

Isn't that obvious?

One subtle bit of propaganda that I noted in the article was a single sentence that equated self-defense with vigilantism. Perhaps, it is time to start calling the pundits' on that one. Self-defense is not vigilantism. Sefl-defense is necessary actions taken to prevent a criminal attack that could result in the death or serious bodily injury of the victim. But, why confuse the issue with facts?

In light of the Zimmerman case, it is interesting to note the extremely strong support across the board for citizensto step up to prevent crimes from happening.

But I heard from members here who swore up and down that if we didn't convict Zimmerman with the rest of the mob, public support for CC and gun rights would evaporate over night!!

The media has been equating self-defense and vigilantism from way back before the Goetz case....which if remember correctly, was in the 70s.

That's just the point. The drive-by-media spin every story they tell. :mad5
If all they did was spout facts and truths no one would watch it. :grumble
But prepare the stories with subtle hints of truth, lined with assumptions and base it loosely on facts gathered haphazardly then you have a punched up news headline that will make people want to tune in at 6 or 10 and see what's going on.

And don't get me started on POTUS and WH confusing the 'issues' with 'facts'... :banghead:

I called my mom the other day. She answered her cell phone, but couldn't talk because she was "out with a friend".

Me: Is this friend a man or woman?
Mom: A man
Me: You tell him if he messes with you I'll be down there lickety split  (Mom lives in FL)
Mom: He's got a gun too
Me:
Me: I like him already "rlol"

...the way folks have acted about this FL situation has done more to boost gun sales and inspire concealed carry than any ad campaign could have done...it's showed us again the mentality that springs up quickly anytime, anywhere...

I meant ALL sides of the "gun issue" have been awakened by the most unfortunate and sensationally publicized Sanford, FL. incident.
