Texas Rangers 2012-2013 Season Thread

Post by snatchel »

Well, figured no time like the present to start this season's thread.

I've been watching them religiously, I usually only miss 30 or so games a season. When i'm not home for games, I watch them on MLB mobile TV, a pretty good investment, but there are too many blackout games IMHO, especially since I pay $130 a season for it.

Either way, Lets talk Rangers Baseball:

1. Offense--How are we looking? Bats are swinging. They are stealing bases... everyone looks great. I have no complaints really.
2. Defense-- Ranger Defense is ALWAYS good. With players like Ian Kinsler, Young, Andrus, and the like... you can't really expect
anything but the best. I have not been disappointed.

So what about Darvish? Our new star pitches well, no doubt. I'm curious if he is going to be the all-star we are paying him for though. I really hope that he proves to be that missing part of the puzzle we need to bag a pennant.

So far, we are 6-2 this season. As soon as they wrap up the game that's on right now, it will be 7-2. Granted, we haven't played any serious contenders yet.. but looking good!

We will be watching more this season than last. I bought two sets of three tickets from a friend at work. We haven't been to a Rangers game in maybe ten years. I have Yankees and Red Sox tickets.

If Yu can deliver 6 or 7 solid innings as a starter he is going to help us big time. He has
great ball movement. Several pitches to choose from and consistent 93-97 mph fast ball.
Bull pen needed shoring up for several years. Cost us last year. We do have the big bats
and as good a batting line up as anybody, I think. I also like Washington. Wasn't sure I was
going too at first. He's good for this team/group of players and personalities.

Tonight we will see the Rangers up against the much despised NY Yankees. I'm excited. I hope the Yankees lose miserably.

I just dropped off some visitors from NYC at the ballpark. When we were pulling up we saw 3 people wearing Yankees apparel. My wheelchair bound client said he thought there would be more Yankees fans there. I told him they must be in camouflage because it's Yankee Hunting Season here in Arlington. He was laughing so hard I was thankful he was belted not his chair.

Yankees stink!

I have my tickets in hand for tomorrow night's game...making the drive from Tyler on a school night! Who cares if it's the night of the STAAR Test...the Evil Empire must be beat!

The bats are hot, but the pitching is phenominal for this early in the season! I know it's rare for a team to be in the World Series 3 consecutive years...but this team has all of the right stuff!!!

Will be there tonite. Man but I feel nekid during that walk from season ticket parking to the gates and back. Wife and I will make at least 20 and maybe 30 home games. This year we go back to the series and finish it off.

Go and kick some serious Yankee tail the rest of this series.

Looks like his performance under pressure will be tested tonight. Yu Darvish vs. Hiroki Kuroda. (Sounds like an Iron Chef episode).

I think we saw in the last two games how important Beltre is to the lineup. Rumors have it that he might be back tonight.

Family went to the game last night. :grumble

My tickets said it was a 7:05 start time. We were stuck in that parking lot on the south end of the Bush turnpike for almost an hour and didn't get to our seats until the bottom half of the second inning. We were surrounded by a mix of Ranger and Yankee fans and one gentleman about 60 years old _______ his peanut shells several rows ahead of him. After the fourth or fifth shell I leaned near his ear and whispered to him that he should know better and he stopped. MORON!!! :banghead:

Holland still has the Yankees in his head. He did not have a good outing last night and our bats were a little cool.

Got to go to game tonight. Yu looks more comfortable with each outing. Wish he would have gotten the complete game but Wash did give him a shot... Man, this is one strong team all the way up and down the lineup, rotation, and bullpen. The only ones who can stop the Rangers this year are themselves.

On a sidenote, my son's baseball took me to Snatchel's stomping grounds this weekend past. He met my family in town, showed us around a little (time crunch), and had lunch with us. He then graced us with his presence at my son's game! Thanks for the hospitality, Snatchel! Look forward to the next one...

If Darvish can keep it up the entire season, it looks like he will more than earn his paycheck. 10 strikeouts last night is pretty impressive.
Joe Nathan usually gets the old heart pumping when he steps on the mound. You never know what you're going to get, but he did fairly well with the one pitch he threw last night.

Of course, and anytime! It was good to meet another forum member.

Yu did look great last night, and I'm excited to see what the guys got deep inside. He looks like he may be the next great thing in baseball.... time will tell. Regardless, it was pleasant seeing the Yankees lose last night!!!!!

Tonight I'd like to see Feldman pitch well, and would be pleased to see the Ranger bats swinging like we have gotten used to over the past several games. Best of luck, Rangers. Happy Ranger night, y'all!

They got a few good innings out of Feldman this evening. Ross is doing a pretty good job I relief. I hope it lasts.
